Substantially Original  

This truck lived its entire life in Texas. It has had three adult owners, all of which fussed over and cared for it, and one of which treated it to an extensive “FRAME OFF” restoration.  

Starting with a high quality survivor, the end result is a stunning, high integrity show/driver that was built to be driven long distances.  

DELUXE cab !!

This is the more desirable and harder to find “DELUXE CAB” with all the extra stainless and the panoramic view big back glass. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful trucks of all time.  

All the “key” original components remain in tact, including”:

• motor
• carb & air cleaner
• steering column
• steering wheel
• front suspension
• gauges
• wheels
• original tire look (original look but modern radials)

The motor is the factory original 235. This was Chevrolet’s pre-V8 workhorse. By 1956 the BIG 6 cylinder was already legendary for its reliability and smooth delivery of power.  These motors are very reliable and almost bullet proof. 

The entire driveline was totally gone through and has just over  8,000 TROUBLE FREE miles. Everything works on this truck and it has no bad habits. Some of the mechanical upgrades were: 

• upgraded with period option FENTON splitter exhaust manifold and true “dual exhaust”.
• the 3-speed tranny has a tall highway ratio
• later model rear end with tall high way gear
• the generator was replaced with a modern alternator
• gauges replaced with NEW correct style and all WORK

The tires are the best “RADIAL” wide whites money will buy. I just installed these so they have very few miles on them. 
 
 

Comfort dramatically “improved”  

Interior upgrades make for a VERY comfortable cabin that can be enjoyed for long distances. However, the truck does INCLUDE the original factory seat should someone ever desire to take it back to totally original. 

• tighter & quieter than any truck of this vintage that I have ever been in (still has wind noise which is impossible to eliminate in this vintage truck, however it has been dramatically reduced)

• Has modern Air Conditioning that keeps the cabin cool even on the hottest Texas day. The modern “rotary” compressor puts very little drag on the engine and it is tastefully mounted “out of sight” under the alternator.

• The “custom interior” consists of a modern factory Chevrolet truck seat that has the proper “body contour” for comfort and built in seat belts. The original flat seats that came in these trucks are very uncomfortable for anything other than the shortest of drives (however, the original seat is included with the truck). The doors were covered in the matching factory material and the entire floor was insulated and carpeted to help reduce noise.

In general, the experience behind the wheel for the driver and in the cabin for the passenger is vastly superior to a totally stock truck. The net effect is a beautiful classic that you can enjoy year round.  
 
 

Paint / Body / Stainless / Glass /  Rubber  

This was NOT a low budget re-do. This was a full “frame-off  restoration” that required a healthy financial budget. 

If a quality body with quality PAINT is important to you ….. this truck will not be a disappointment. Even though it has been driven over 8,000 miles it still looks like a fresh show quality truck – not flawless, but as close to it as any vehicle that has gets driven (it looks as good in real life as in the photos). 

The body is LASER STRAIGHT and the paint is as slick as porcelain. It has that deep wet look. Seasoned car folks know what it cost to get this kind of quality. 

All the chrome & stainless has been restored. If you have ever financed a paint job of this quality, AND then on top of that, paid to have all the chrome and stainless redone, you know that this is a very expensive process.  

All the Weather-strip is new as well as the glass which is crystal clear. The windows roll up easily. The back and side glass has been tinted to help keep the cabin cool but the tint is easily removed if desired.  

The result is a “top to bottom” quality piece that will give years of enjoyment.
