True factory GT   

The former owner spent a small fortune by starting with the top of the line factory GT fastback as a foundation for building an updated “resto-mod” version of the famous 1965 R-code Shelby GT350.  

Real R-codes are in the $200,000 to $500,000 range. This car looks almost identical, performs better in real world driving, and can be enjoyed “guilt free” for a fraction of that amount.    

Even though this car has many excellent mechanical and cosmetic upgrades, it BEGAIN life as a true factory 4-speed “GT”, and, is easily verifiable as such by any knowledgeable Mustang enthusiast.  

Sold new in DALLAS Texas, it has been a Texas car since new and has its rust FREE original floors – Seasoned Mustang guys know that rust free original floors are almost impossible to find in a 65 Mustang. 
 

Modern performance UPGRADES  

NOT your typical fluffed up Mustang. A significant amount of money and talent have been invested in this car to update its performance while retaining a “period correct appearance”.  Careful attention was given to insure that the modern 5.0 roller rocker motor looks almost identical to the famous 289 HiPo & that the 5-speed shifter & knob, look exactly like the original 4-speed did in 1965. The results are the best of both worlds …. old school looks with modern performance.  

There are lesser Mustangs out there for less money. It is very expensive to take a factory 4-speed GT and add these significant mechanical & cosmetic upgrades and finish it off with this quality of a paint job.   

This car could not be built to as is condition, for anywhere near my asking price.

The glove box was signed by Carroll Shelby himself, while it at Carroll Shelby’s Texas Ranch. The headrest were sent off to have Mr. Shelby’s signature “stitched” onto them. Very cool. 
 

Paint 

Truly a beautiful car with a laser straight body and high gloss paint. This car was built to be driven and the primarily focus was to that end, however, the car will show extremely well where ever you take it. It was properly blocked and buffed to a high luster and it has that deep wet look. It looks exactly the same in real life as it does in the pictures. The paint is base/clear Wimbledon White with correct blue Shelby Stripes.  

Negatives 

There are a few minor flaws that do not detract from the car but I want to mention them. There are some scuffs on the drivers side window/glass and some light scratches on passenger side window/glass. The paint in the inner door jams is not as slick as the outer body. There is one very minor small ding on the top of the deck lid, paint not affected.  
 

Super reliable / fly in DRIVE it HOME !
